Introduction
My name is Brendan Nowakowski. I am currently a senior at Lake Shore High School and the Macomb Mathematics Science Technology Center. Throughout high school, I strived to be the student in the class that others would go to if they needed assistance, especially in my math and science classes. Math and science were so important to me that I tested to get into the Macomb Mathematics Science Technology Center during my eighth grade year and started taking classes there in the fall of 2011. Each year, a science research project was to be carried out, written in a paper, and presented to our peers, family members, teachers, and other community members. As science classes progressed, so did the mathematics classes. I found that math has a beauty to it that only a few would ever see. From trigonometry to the fundamental theorem of calculus (see the header of this page), math can be applied to almost everything in life. Math is EVERYWHERE.
I am very proud of the student, and furthermore the worker, that I have become. I have always been able to handle anything that came my way. Throughout all of high school, I was able to maintain above a 4.0 GPA and I have been 3rd in my class at least since I found out in my sophomore year. Not only have grades gone up, but my appreciation for what I am learning has also increased. This is why I want to use my powers for good and become a teacher, so I can share my knowledge with others, and hopefully inspire them to do great things in life. My goal in life is to be a high school advanced mathematics and/or physical science teacher. I am going to obtain this through Michigan State University, starting my venture there in the fall of 2015.
Outside of school, I am a musician. I have been playing percussion in band (concert and marching) since sixth grade, becoming the section leader of the drumline since 10th grade. I also have been playing percussion, guitar, and piano on my own, even writing my own songs.
