Science/ResearchIn Sophomore year at MMSTC, everyone was required to do a research project based on chemistry. The difference this year was that everyone did the same project. We had to compare the specific heat and linear thermal expansion coefficients of unknown metal rods to determine if they were the same as known metal rods that were tested in the same way. We received a 95% on the final paper and an 85% on the presentation.
In our Senior year at MMSTC, my partner and I entered AP Physics and did a research project on the effect of water temperature running through a concrete block on the rate of change of temperature of the concrete block, hoping to find a solution to potholes by keeping the roads consistently warm throughout the winter, and not using rock salt. We received a 93% on the final paper and a 102% on the presentation.

AP CalculusIn AP Calculus, we looked at how lead flowed into different compartments of the body and how long it would stay based on if someone would continue to be exposed to it, if they were moved to a lead-free area, or if they were given an anti-lead drug. The rate of flow was produced using a set of differential equations, each representing a different part of the body (blood, tissue, and bones). We received a 94% on the essay.
