Experience from Week #7
What a week! Lots of calculus!! I took my AP Calculus BC test on Tuesday while many of my students took their AP Calculus AB test, and I am confident that all of their scores will be beautiful!!
I taught my last lesson this week, which was Volume by Shells. I had previously taught Volume by Disks and Washers, which were both fair game for the AP Calculus AB test, so I taught this last volume method that is very important for students to know. What this method does is basically makes finding the volume by rotating around a vertical axis much easier and also makes finding the volume by rotating around a horizontal axis possible in some cases. Usually, the washer and shell methods can be used interchangeably, but there are some instances when you cannot use the washer method. It just would not be possible. So, teaching the shell method is important. I find it a lot of fun!! The notes can be seen in the slideshow below!

Other than that, we reviewed for the AP test on Monday and the student's watched a movie called "Stand and Deliver" in class on Tuesday and Wednesday. The movie was about a teacher that was determined to have all of his students pass the AP Calculus test, when most of them had never gotten a quality education before. It based on a true story, and I highly recommend it! That was all we did this week! One more full week to go!!
Letter of Appreciation
We were asked to write a letter of appreciation to our supervisors and ask them for a letter of recommendation that would help us get a job or have another very similar opportunity sometime in the future. Instead of summarizing the letter, I will post it below for you to read. I will be delivering the letter to Mrs. Roda in person on Tuesday, May 12.
